Grigory Yavlinsky calls for immediate allocation of additional funds from the state budget to combat international terrorism | ||||

The leader of Yabloko and its parliamentary faction in the State Duma Grigory Yavlinsky is certain that Russia “is and will be part of the international coalition in the fight with terrorism”. In an interview with journalists, Yavlinsky stated that Yabloko was calling for the immediate allocation of additional funds from the current state budget to adopt decisive measures for increased security of Russia’s citizens.” This implies primarily the need to reinforce Russia’s borders, especially at their Caucasus part and the part bordering Northern Kazakhstan. In addition, stressed Yabloko’s leader, increased security measures should be adopted at most dangerous objects, such as nuclear power stations, as well as an increase in air flight safety measures. Yavlinsky stressed once again that imports of spent nuclear fuel into Russia “especially in the current situation” are inadmissible. Speaking about the idea of representatives of the Union of Right-Wing Forces (SPS) to spread Article 5 of the NATO Charter (which states that if an act of aggression is committed against a member- state, this is recognised as an aggression against all member- states) to the whole t of Russia, Yavlinsky stated if this initiative was adopted, “would virtually mean that Russia joins NATO”. “Today it is not a topic for discussion,” stressed Yavlinsky.
