Amendments to the law “On the Central Bank of the RF” may be adopted by the State Duma and approved by the Federation Council by the end of the autumn session of the Duma, thinks Mikhail Zadornov, Deputy Head of the Budget Committee of the Duma and member of the Yabloko faction.

In an interview with the “Interfax-AFI” agency, he stated that the profile committees of the State Duma (the banking and budget committees) would resume their work on the preparation of amendments to the law on the Central Bank after the end of parliamentary holidays (September 16). Before this date, according to Zadornov, consultations on the preparation of the final version of the document will take place.

The amendments refer to the key provisions of the performance of the Central Bank of Russia, the proxies of the National Banking Council and the audit of the Central Bank of the RF.

Zadornov refused to comment on the possibilities of expanding the proxies of the National Banking Council that, according to some mass media, exist in the draft law. According to Zadornov, the amendments can be discussed not earlier than September, after their review at the meetings of the profile committees of the Duma.

The State Duma had already adopted in the first reading amendments to the law on the Central Bank of the RF. However, in summer during the examination of the amendments in the second reading the lower chamber rejected the draft and sent it to the profile committees for further work.
