The Yabloko faction considers it necessary
to conduct an independent parliamentary enquiry into the causes
of the accident, in particular the rescue
operation of the nuclear submarine “Kursk”, First Deputy Head
of the Yabloko faction in the State Duma, Sergei Ivanenko,
told journalists today.
“The state, represented by the Federal Assembly
of Russian Federation,
must
answer the question asked by society: whether everything
possible was
done
to save the people,” said Ivanenko.
According to Sergei Ivanenko, “the abstract
discussions which we
conducted
for many years on making changes to the Constitution, which
envisage the
creation of a institution of parliamentary
enquiry and civil control
over
the armed forces have now assumed an absolutely clear and
distinct
form”.
The Yabloko faction will demand that the
State Duma of the RF create a
special commission to investigate all the circumstances
of the “Kursk”
submarine disaster.
The Yabloko faction will insist that the
law, which has already been
adopted
at its first reading, on making an amendment to the Constitution
of the
RF
on establishing an institution of parliamentary enquiry
should be
considered
as soon as possible.
The Yabloko faction is also going to promote
a law on civil control over
the
military, the interior and secret service.
