A rally in protection of small business

On May 26, the Russian Entrepreneur’s Day, YABLOKO will conduct a rally in protection of small business. The part has already applied for a permission for the action to the Moscow Mayor’s Office.

Entrepreneurs from Moscow, Samara and Tver will participate in the action.

Preliminary it is planned that the rally should take place in the centre of Moscow in Novopushkinskiy Garden.

The time of the rally will be announced after getting a permission from the Moscow authorities.

YABLOKO has been conducting a rally in protection of small business on May 26 for several years already.

The first rally was conducted against the government’s policies in the housing and utilities sector, raising of tariffs and taxes. About 200 people came to the action by the Regional Administration building...

The second rally was conducted in protection of Lake Baikal from pollution of the Baikal Pulp Plant owned by oligarch Oleg Deripaska. This rally joined together about 250 people...

Small Business Goes into Politics

The rally adopted a resolution calling the authorities to stop demolishing the small businesses and also unanimously supported the proposal to call all the entrepreneurs to join around YABLOKO “which is the only party protecting small business”.

The organisers of the action state that the authorities do not implement their promises to provide support to small businesses. On May 14, the YABLOKO party applied to the Moscow authorities for a permission to conduct an action “Small Business Goes into Politics” on the Entrepreneur’s Day, May 26. The action will take place by the Economic Ministry at the Triumfalnaya square, Moscow. Entrepreneurs from different regions of Central Russia and St.Petersburg will participate in the action in Moscow. The action will begin at 2 p.m.

The key problem of Russia’s political system is monopolism which manifests itself in three major ways:

1) bodies of power and parliaments of all levels demonstrate monopoly of one party representing the interests of bureaucracy and large-scale business merged with it;
2) complete dominance of the executive over the judicial authority;
3) dictate of one social class – the bureaucracy – over all other social groups.
Thus, the present political system generally reproduces the Soviet system, with its key flaw – the monopoly of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union on power.
Such monopoly led to the insensibility of the political system of the USSR to the challenges of the time. Attempts to reform the system were considerably belated and that, consequently, led to a collapse of the USSR.
