A motor rally from Izhevsk in Votkinsk, Udmurtia, organized
by the Udmurtian branch of YABLOKO within the framework of
the regional election campaign, has been detained by traffic
police. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin also participates
in the rally. According to the police, the reason for the
detention is that the action has not had a permit from the
local authorities. At present Sergei Mitrokhin is trying to
convince the police that the rally is lawful.
YABLOKO leader is at the moment in Izhevsk, Udmurtia, so that
to render support to YABLOKOs list of candidates in the upcoming
regional elections. The party list is topped by Mikhail Nazarov,
chair of the regional party branch, Sophia Rusova, journalist,
and Andrei Nekrasov, publisher of the Izhevsk Observer and
head of the anti-corruption fund "New Udmurtia"
YABLOKO has been toughly criticizing the policies of the Udmurtian
government and demands per term resignation of Alexander Volkov,
President of the Republic.
