YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin participated in actions
the memorial evening of tribute to Anna Polytkovskaya, human
rights activist and journalist of Novaya Gazeta, murdered
in the five years ago on October 7, 2006.
Sergei Mitrokhin visited a memory evening in the House of
Journalists. Marina Goldovskayas film about Anna A Bitter
Taste of Freedom was one of the main events of the evening.
All those who knew Anna well her colleagues journalists,
human rights activists and public figures came to pay tribute
to Anna. Raisa Mazepa, mother of Anna Politkovskaya, also
came to watch the film.
Sergei Mitrokhin expressed his condolences to Annas mother.
Raisa Mazepa told Sergei Mitrokhin that she had been closely
following all the developments with YABLOKO and wished the
party success at the elections.
In the evening YABLOKO activists including Sergei Mitrokhin
and Alexander Gnezdilov, deputy head of the Moscow YABLOKO,
laid flowers to the place where Anna was murdered (Lesnaya
8).
I have always admired Anna Politkovskayas courage and firmness
in the search of the truth. We will spare no effort so that
the culprits of this murder be detected and justly punished,
Mitrokhin said.
