| Tuapse subsidiary of the Kuban Printing Works refused
to print YABLOKO’s bulletin on environmental problems “Let
Us Save the City”. YABLOKO and North Caucasus Environmental
Watch planned to conduct a rally against launching of chemical
shipments terminal on Sunday, June 26,
YABLOKO applied to the printing works (where they had previously
printed all YABLOKO’s bulletins and leaflets), but its director
Alexander Konovalov refused to print YABLOKO’s bulletin. YABLOKO’s
activists learned that he had received such an order from
Valry Kasyanov, head of the Mass Media Department of the Krasnodar
Territory Administration.
“This fact demonstrates that times of tough political censorship
and suppression of the freedom of speech came in the Krasnodar
Territory,” YABLOKO’s activists and environmentalists note.
