On Saturday, May 21, a congress of interregional public
organisation The Elder Generation was held in YABLOKO’s Moscow
office. The participants of the congress - 38 delegates from
23 Russian regions – adopted a decision on merger of their
organisations with the YABLOKO party. They will join the Elder
Generation faction within YABLOKO.
From now on the faction will be represented in 36 regions
of Russia.
According to Alexei Borschenko, Chair of the Central Council
of the organisation, the programme goals and tactics of the
YABLOKO party matches the interests of the elder generation
of Russian citizens.
YABLOKO’s leader Sergei Mitrokhin expressed his confidence
that the Elder Generation faction will make a significant
contribution into the struggle of democratic forces for a
true renaissance of Russia.
Tatiana Chertoritskaya, leader of the Russian public organisation
"Women's Congress”, who was present at the event, invited
The Elder Generation "to join efforts for implementation
of joint projects”.
Congress delegates also paid tribute to Alexei Byba, a recently
deceased leader of The Elder Generation branch in the Vladimir
region.
