In the evening April 16 neo-Nazis attacked
Anatoly Rabinovich, YABLOKO’s Bureau member and President
of the Inter-Regional Union of those who was brought up in
orphanages.
Rabinovich was attacked when he was going back home from
the Moscow Conference of YABLOKO. Coming out of the Barrikadnaya
metro station and walking to Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya street he
walked away from a group of not sober young men. Several seconds
later one of the men hit Rabinovish from behind. Rabinovich
tried to return to the metro station hoping to get help from
police. However, neo-Nazis were chasing him striking blows.
Only when Rabinovich passed the ticket barriers to the metro
station police came to his rescue and detained the attackers.
During their detention and later in the police department
the young men shouted nationalistic slogans like “Russia for
Russians” and also insulted Rabinovich.
However, the policemen did not reflect in the protocols the
neo-Nazi statements of the arrested.
Public prosecutor interrogated Rabinovich and doctors recorded
face injuries and other traumas.
YABLOKO’s activist will insist on fair punishment for the
neo-Nazis. The YABLOKO party will closely monitor the investigation.
