1,200 people participated in a rally against
the ruling United Russia party in Izhevsk, Udmurtia. The rally
was organised by the YABLOKO party in the central square of
the city.
YABLOKO’s leader Sergei Mitrokhin who specially arrived to
Udmurtia to participate in the rally. In his speech he agreed
with the previous speakers who stated that the United Russia
party was a party of thieves. “It [this party] steals money
not only from the federal budget, but also from our citizens’
purses raising tariffs [on housing and utility services].
It steals subsoil, lands and eliminated natural resources
in its own interests. Now it is going to steal our education
making it paid [instead of the former gratuitous],” he said.
According to Mitrokhin, all these types of theft originate
from stealing of votes at elections, where United Russia even
does not conceal its stuffing in of fraudulent ballots or
the so-called carousels [organizing commuting coaches to bring
special people to put fraudulent ballots in favour of this
party].
“However, the fault here lies on us, rather than on the United
Russia party, because, it is us who allow to do all this to
us and seems that we do not have self-respect as a nation,”
Mitrokhin added.
“In the Arab world the nations decided that could not bear
this anymore and overthrew all the drones,” he said. “We also
do not have a choice – either we let them to steal everything
here, or we will return our country back to us,” Mitrokhin
stated.
Alexander Mokshanov, Chair of the Udmurtian YABLKOKO, said
in his speech that the policies of United Russia virtually
eliminated small businesses in the country. And Sofia Rusova,
leader of the Youth YABLOKO in Udmurtia, added that young
people were leaving Russia, as they could not see any prospects
here. “Throw out United Russia!” chanted the rally.
Representatives of other political and public organisations,
Patriots of Russia inclusive, also spoke at the rally.
