The
ruling United Russia party has listened today accusations
in authoritarian rule and corruption from Sergei Mitrokhin,
leader of the oppositional YABLOKO party. According to Reuters,
Mitrokhin was given ten minutes for his speech.
A law adopted on President Dmitry Medvedev’s proposal and
envisaging that the State Duma should at least twice in a
year give word to those parties that failed to get into parliament
came into force this year.
Word was given to Sergei Mitrokhin, leader of the YABLOKO
party, Boris Nadezhdin, representative of the Right Course
party created with participation of the Kremlin and Sergei
Glotov, leader of The Patriots of Russia. Each of them used
his ten minutes for hitting different goals.
Mitrokhin stormed at the United Russia with criticism which
hurt the ruling party. “The country has seen discrediting
of the institute of elections, elimination of political competition,
turning of division of authorities into sham and abrupt restriction
of the freedom of the press. Monopoly of one party representing
the interests of bureaucrats and large oligarchic business
associated with it was set in the executive power bodies and
parliaments of all levels,” Mitrokhin said.
Other non-parliamentary parties decided not to further sharpen
the situation and made mild speeches “partially, wholly and
fully” supporting the course towards the victory and triumph
of democracy.
