Sverdlovsk Region Court left without changed the decision
of the Electoral Commission not to register YABLOKO in the
election campaign to the Sverdlovsk Region parliament. The
decision was adopted yesterday night.
The working group of the electoral commission basing on
the graphological expertise recognised 56% of the signatures
collected by YABLOKO in support of its election list invalid.
The court heard only one expert who explained that “he
and his colleagues based on their experience and qualification”.
However, he failed to give a detailed answer to a single
question, repeating that “such was the result of the expertise”.
The judge ordered a check of the signatures lists, but such
a check only verified whether the working group had carefully
put the data from the experts into the final protocol. The
judge did not doubt the conclusion of the expertise.
The leader of the Sverdlovsk YABLOKO Maxim Petlin said
that he expected such a decision of the court, however,
he added that in any case YABLOKO would fight until the
end. On March 1, Petlin will submit the appeal to the Supreme
Court.
