The Sverdlovsk region branch of YABLOKO applied to the regional
court demanding annul the decision of the electoral commission
not to register YABLOKO in election race to the regional parliament.
YABLOKO’s activists provide a list of violations made by
the Regional Electoral Commission in checking signatures collected
by YABLOKO. For example, graphology experts gave contradictory
conclusions concerning the same signatures: in first group
of experts acknowledged the signatures valid; whereas the
second group of experts found the same signatures invalid.
“We are hoping that the court can make an objective decision
and YABLOKO can be registered. It is a pity that we can not
begin campaigning and fundraising, as our campaign account
was closed by the electoral commission,” noted Maxim Petlin,
Chair of the Sverdlovsk YABLOKO.
The first hearing will take place on February 18.
