Brussels, 26.01.2011
Kristiina Ojuland, co-rapporteur of the European Parliament
on Russia expressed her condolences to all the victims and
the relatives of the casualties of Monday's terrorist attack
on Domodedovo Airport in Moscow.
Ojuland noted that after last year's terrorist attacks in
Moscow metro the Russian authorities promised to improve the
capabilities of the law enforcement agencies in the fight
against terrorist threats.
"The security measures have been upgraded in major airports
all around the world to avoid terrorist attacks," Ojuland
said. "In Domodedovo, however, the terrorist entered
to the airport building without any security checks. That
is a clear sign of the deficiencies in the work of Russian
special services."
Ojuland commended on the security measures in Tokyo Airport,
where everyone has to pass security checks several kilometres
before the airport building, thus avoiding the possibility
of terrorists entering with the explosives.
