MOSCOW, March 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russian liberal party
Yabloko has filed lawsuits to revoke the results of the voting in last
December's parliamentary election in 170 constituencies out of the country's
total 225, Sergei Loktionov, Yabloko's press secretary said Wednesday.
Suits have been sent to the courts of 78 territories of the Russian
Federation, he said. The party found it possible to launch court motions
after checking more than 14,000 protocols of the observers who had monitored
the voting process at polling stations on the election day, Loktionov
said.
Yabloko observers say widespread discrepancies have been found in over
2,000 protocols representing 19 percent of the total.
Given this data, the plaintiffs demand that the courts invalidate decisions
of electoral commissions in the constituencies to certify the results
of voting.
Loktionov said Yabloko was also preparing a lawsuit to the Russian Supreme
Court.
The party functionaries claim that violations in the course of voting
and vote counting encroached the people's constitutional right to free
electiond.
