Anchor: Representatives of YABLOKO ask
the Constitutional Court of Russia to issue its findings on compliance
of the present system for pensions accruals with constitutional provisions.
Report by Margarita Bondarenko:
Correspondent: Today Russia has two pension systems:
one for civil servants and another for the rest of the population. The
bureaucrats enjoy quite high pensions, but as for the so-called "labour
pensions" the state guarantees only 400 roubles (Ed. About USD 13)
and sets a lot of restrictions represented by co-efficient limits on the
remaining part of the pension earned by an individual. That is how a representative
of the YABLOKO faction, Deputy Head of the faction Igor
Artemyev explained the present social injustice. In their inquiry
addresses to the Constitutional Court, members of YABLOKO indicate that
[the present system] infringes on pensioners' rights, for example of those
who worked for many years in the Extreme North and consequently were deprived
of privileges that had been previously promised by the state. If the Constitutional
Court repeals one of the norms of the present pension law, pensions will
be automatically accrued without these limits, hopes YABLOKO's representative.
However, he admits that this may be strongly opposed by the Government
and the Pension Fund.
