| Our friend Yuri
Schekochikhin passed away:
He was an exceptionally brave man and a very good reliable friend. We
all
loved him for his frankness, noble heart, intelligence, warmth and openness.
We deeply regret his death and express our condolences to the relatives
and
next to kin of Yuri Petrovich.
Yuri Petrovich was a Man, Journalist and Politician with a capital letter.
He made a great contribution to the foundation of democracy in Russia.
The
death of Yuri Petrovich Schekochikhin is an unredeemable loss for everybody
who knew this man and for the country.
Yuri Schekochikhin was an irreconcilable fighter against corruption,
the
best master of journalistic investigation in the proper sense of the word.
The only goal of his work was truth rather than sensational headlines.
He,
like no other, could make sure that the truth was finally disclosed. His
investigations have always been efficient, and therefore especially
dangerous for criminals and corruption.
The circumstances of the death of Yuri Schekochikhin leave us with many
unanswered questions, and only special expertise can provide an answer.
We shall do all we can to ensure that a methodical investigation is
carried
out on the events of the last year of his life and the circumstances of
his
death and make sure that the necessary medical expertise is conducted.
We shall exploit all the resources at our disposal to ensure that this
investigation is carried out in the public eye and at all times and is
only
concluded when all questions have been answered.
