Five years have elapsed since the murder of Larissa
Yudina. However, the investigation of the murder committed on
June 7, 1998 cannot be considered over. Only the perpetrators of
the murder were convicted. The contract killers and organizers of
organised the murder are still free. At the same time the investigation
organised by YABLOKO and conducted by highly qualified lawyers demonstrated
that the facts and witnesses' evidences are more than enough to
achieve their conviction.
Both the failure to complete the investigation and the reason
for the murder of Editor-in-Chief of "Soveitskaya KalmikiyaToday"
newspaper and leader of YABLOKO's branch in Kalmykia are attributable
to politics.
The Russian Democratic Party YABLOKO once again authoritatively
tates that the results of the public investigation of the murder
of Larissa Yudina are enough to resume the investigation and convict
the organisers of this political crime. We hereby forward to the
Public Prosecutor General
an urgent request to end the investigation, ask the state power
bodies and state officials at all levels to manifest their political
will and not to hinder any resumption and conducting of the investigation.
The failure to punish the organizers of ordered political murders
and inability to conclude investigations present an immediate
threat to national security. Consequently, a criminal that gets
into power and merges with power is becoming more impudent. Ordered
crimes threaten to become an ordinary method of political struggle.
Punishment of the contract killers and organizers of the murder
of Larissa Yudina would not only restore justice: it would also
become am important step in the decriminalization of Russian politics.
