It seems that the deputies' inquiries on the YUKOS case
have already become a traditional form of activity for Russian parliament
members. However, this time, the inquiry from deputy of the YABLOKO faction
Alexei Melnikov addressed
to the Director of the Federal Security Service Nikolai Patrushev is not
targeted against YUKOS or its staff. Melnikov was concerned about the information
on application of psychotrophic agents with Alexei Pichugin who works for
YUKOS economic security service. If the information on application of such
agents is correct, than this constitutes the "most severe violation"
of the "federal law on the Federal Security Service of the Russian
Federation and the Criminal-Procedural Code" and "virtually a
crime", noted Melnikov.
Melnikov also referred to information from the Alexei Pichugin's wife who
had stated that her husband had received an injection of some psychotropic
drug. In addition, according to Melnikov, the FSB had tried to obtain from
Puchugin "information compromising the heads of YUKOS" "If
the FSB of the RF has a service engaged in internal security, I ask them
to carry out an independent investigation," stated Melnikov. He also
mentioned the "werewolves", stating that the FSB should be protected
from their penetration. However, no answer has been received from the
FSB so far to the previous inquiry on the same case (also signed by Melnikov).
