| Just over a month later the Prosecutor General Office
has answered the request from Deputy Chairman of the YABLOKO party Sergei
Mitrokhin sent on August 14, 2003 regarding the operations of the "Yabloko
without Yavlinsky" movement, which disseminated information defaming
the business reputation of the leadership of the YABLOKO party." According
to the ABN agency which refers to the YABLOKO press service in St. Petersburg,
Deputy Prosecutor General Yuri Biryukov informed Mitrokhin that the request
had been forwarded to the prosecutors of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov
and Perm regions for investigation and adoption of measures. The Prosecutor
General Office will also control this case.
Earlier Sergei Mitrokhin had accused Anatoli Chubais of ordering the
publication of libelous texts on the YABLOKO party. As evidence Mitrokhin demonstrated materials that
came from the regions proving that RAO UES was behind the "Yabloko
without Yavlinsky" activities.
