Moscow, September 29, 2003 /BPI/. The Central Electoral
Commission of the RF considers the operations of the "Yabloko Without
Yavlinsky" movement unlawful. Such a statement was made by Head of
the Central Electoral Commission Alexander Veshnyakov in his speech about
the results of the meeting of the Commission.
He also said that the Central Electoral Commission had examined the
pledge of the Deputy Chairman of the YABLOKO party Sergei
Mitrokhin related to the operations of the public public association
"Yabloko Without Yavlinsky". The working group of the Central
Electoral Commission for Information Conflicts detected unlawful propaganda
in the actions of this organisation that were carried out in a number
of Russian regions from 3 -13 September, noted Veshnyakov. On Sunday the
meeting of the Central Electoral Commission adopted a decision to agree
with the conclusions of the working group and request that the Interior
Ministry of the RF and the General Office of the Public Prosecutor abolish
the operations of the "Yabloko Without Yavlinsky" movement and
make a number of its activists answerable for their actions.
The head of the Central Electoral Commission thinks that the actions
of the "Yabloko Without Yavlinsky" movement represent propaganda
against the YABLOKO party and its leader. In addition Veshnyakov also
pointed out that the propaganda materials that were published in the regional
mass media had not been paid from the election fund (Ed. As required by
the law), and that the organisation was not even registered as a political
party. The Head of the Central Electoral Commission also stressed that
he was extremely opposed to such actions during the pre-election period.
