| Moscow. July 18, 2003. A joint working group of the YABLOKO
party and the European Commission on the introduction of a visa-free regime
between Russia and the EU will be created shortly. Such a statement, according
to YABLOKO's press service, was made yesterday by Chairman of the Russian
Democratic party YABLOKO Grigory
Yavlinsky after a meeting with the Head of the Representation of the
European Commission in Russia Richard Wright and Italian Ambassador to
Russia Gianfranco Facco Bonetti. The prospects of the introduction of a
visa-free regime for trips by Russian tourists to Europe and trips by EU
citizens to Russia.
During the meeting Grigory Yavlinsky handed to the representatives of
the European union proposals from the YABLOKO party on the measures that
should be undertaken by Russia and EU to eliminate the visa barrier. In
particular, the document analyses the present situation in this area,
as well as measures that should be undertaken by both sides for a visa-free
regime of border crossing by their citizens. Yavlinsky also thinks that
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia should improve its performance
and the quality of the documents, in particular, Russian passports for
trips abroad.
