Moscow, July 10. (BPI). The events connected with the
YUKOS company will lead to a loss of Russia's investment appeal and economic
instability. This statement was made today by the leader of the YABLOKO
faction of the State Duma Grigory
Yavlinsky at a meeting of the "Open Forum" club devoted to
the "Political and Power Instruments of the Big Economy in Russia:
Contexts and Consequences."
Yavlinsky noted that the recent drop of the rates at the stock market
was
the sharpest since the 1998 crisis. The capitalisation of YUKOS has also
fallen considerably. Yavlinsky also said that the YABLOKO faction had
forwarded in inquiry to the Prosecutor's Office on the liability for the
damage caused to the economy of the country and the political system by
the
action of officials from the Public Prosecutor's Office. He also stressed
that YABLOKO would insist on a response to this inquiry.
Yavlinsky also stated that Russia should develop a liberal and social
concept aimed at a civilized separation of business and the authorities.
According to Yavlinsky, independent judicial system, independent parliament,
press and elections should form the basis of the concept. Further
development of the economy is impossible without these pre-requisites.
