MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin still has the highest popularity rating (45%) among Russian politicians, according to a poll.
A survey conducted by the All Russian Center For Public Opinion Studies of 1,600 showed that 70% (3% less than in April) of Russians approved of the president's work in May and 27% (3% more than the month before) held the opposite opinion.
Putin is followed by Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov with 16% (13% in April), Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu 15% (15%), Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky 14% (10%) and Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov 8% (4%).
The ten most popular Russian politicians also include Northwest Federal District presidential envoy Valentina Matviyenko with 7% (8% the month before), Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov 7% (8%), Yabloko Party leader Grigory Yavlinsky 7% (8%), Deputy State Duma Speaker Irina Khakamada 6% (7%) and Commerce and Industry Chamber head Yevgeny Primakov 6% (7%).
About 19% of those polled said they did not trust any of the country's politicians.
