MOSCOW, May 17. Full-scale production of hydrocarbons
under the Sakhalin 1 project will begin at the same time as under
Sakhalin 2, Governor of Sakhalin Region Igor Farkhutdinov has told
reporters. The Sakhalin 2 project is scheduled to reach projected
capacity in 2006-2007.
Development of the Sakhalin 1 fields is behind schedule, Farkhutdinov
said. The programme of work on Sakhalin 2 and cost estimates were
recently approved . "The Sakhalin 1 and Sakhalin 2 figures
are comparable," said Farkhutdinov.
He still does not know who will receive gas from Sakhalin 1.
He could only note that shipments would be carried through Khabarovsk
Territory. The project will enhance infrastructure development
in both Sakhalin Region and Khabarovsk Territory in Russia's Far
East mainland region, added Farkhutdinov.
Licenses have been issued for the development of Sakhalin 5 fields
and part of the Sakhalin 3 project, added the Governor of Sakhalin
