Moscow. February 22, 2003. (From RIA Novosti correspondent Nikolai Makarov). YABLOKO has created an electoral headquarters for the State Duma elections. According to YABLOKO's press-service, the decision to create the headquarters was adopted at meeting of the Bureau of the Federal Council of the YABLOKO party on Saturday.
It was also decided at the meeting to start preparing for parliamentary elections, in particular, proposals from the regional organisations on the composition of the regional groups of the federal party list of YABLOKO. In additio, proposals regarding over 200 candidates for single - mandate electoral districts were adopted for discussion.
It is expected that the final list of candidates will be approved at YABLOKO 's congress in August-September 2003.
According to YABLOKO's press service, the party has over 36,000 members, and regional branches of the party have been created in 72 regions. Party membership has more than tripled over the past three years.
