The Yabloko liberal faction of the State Duma of the Russian
Federation calls on the West to refrain from inadequate measures
in response to the recent acts of terrorism in the USA, said faction
leader Grigory Yavlinsky at a State Duma (lower house of parliament)
briefing Wednesday. "We appeal to the leadership of Western
countries to refrain from taking inadequate measures that could
lead to an escalation in the tension in the world’s hot spots
and increase mass support for terrorists, which could lead to
even graver consequences," said Yavlinsky.
According to the Yabloko leader, real opposition to the global
evil - terrorism - demands a "consolidation of the efforts
of all the international community", qualitatively new decisions
that can only be found through joint efforts.
Yabloko believes that Russia should present itself as one of
the world’s leading anti-terrorist movement, whose main task is
to prevent this century from going down in history as the "era
of international terrorism", added Yavlinsky.
