On August 3, at 9-45 a.m. over
30 activists from the YABLOKO party gathered by the former Lenin's Museum
at the Revolution Square. The activist held slogans "No to the Abolishion
of Benefits!" and flags with YABLOKO's symbols.
The activists also presented a symbol of the impending reform - mummies completely covered by blood-soaked bandages which bore signs "That's how you will look like after the abolishion of the benefits." YABLOKO member and well-known human rights activist Andrei Babushkin, Chairman of the Committee "For the Civil Rights" opened the meeting. "The abolishion of benefits is a conscientious policy of social genocide targeted at the growth in domestic migration, deterioration in relations between the centre and the regions, rise of mortality and corruption," stated Babushkin. "The adoption of such a package of social laws means that the state abolishes its social obligations," said Babushkin. Chairman of the Moscow Youth organisation of YABLOKO Ilya Yashin said that the "state should not turn back on its social obligations." "Finally why did the abolishion of benefits start with old people and veterans rather than state officials?" said Yashin. The activists also chanted the following slogans "Shame on the Duma!" "No to the Abolishion of the Benefits!" And "Hands Off Old People!" The action lasted one hour. Photo see here: See also: Social Policies | |||
