The Russian Democratic Party YABLOKO and associations of the handicapped and those who eliminated the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster agreed on cooperation. Such an agreement was reached during a meeting of April 24, 2002 by the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the YABLOKO party Grigory Yavlinsky and Sergei Mitrokhin and the heads of the Moscow and the Moscow Region organisations of those who eliminated the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster.

The parties will jointly push for a repeal of the decision on imports of spent nuclear waste into Russia, an increase in the level of social protection, the return of tax duties to the organisations of the handicapped and those who eliminated the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster.

These organisations will participate in the protest action (held by YABLOKO and different associations of ecologists, public non-governmental organisations) against the imports of nuclear waste into Russia that will be held on the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. In Moscow the action will be held at Kaluzskaya square by the Lenin monument.
