The Union of Right-Wing Forces (SPS) and Yabloko are working on the formation of a single list of candidates for the next parliamentary elections. However, the two movements have not discussed the possibility of a merger. This declaration was made by the leader of the SPS faction Boris Nemtsov and Deputy Head of the Yabloko faction Sergei Ivanenko on the RTR channel on December 24, 2000.

According to Ivanenko, “our merger is a myth specially invented by certain forces to ruin our movement.” “We favour a strong coalition of two strong parties and really have been developing the principles for forming our single list.”

Boris Nemtsov added in turn that “it would be better for the country, if we were to go into elections as a single bloc”.

Based on Interfax reports.
