The Yabloko Association establishes a system of observers at electoral districts
The Bureau of the Central Council of the Yabloko association approved during its meeting on October 24, 2000, another list of Yabloko’s observers with the right of a decisive vote (93 people) for the electoral districts of the city of Voronezh. At previous meetings, the Bureau approved the appointment of observers of the territorial commissions of the Voronezh region.

The work of the observers will be tried out at the gubernatorial and mayoral elections in Voronezh, to be held on December 24, 2000. Therefore, during the spring elections to the regional and the municipal Duma ,Yabloko’s observers will participate in the work of all the territorial and district electoral commissions, where representatives from Yabloko and its ally the Union of the Right-Wing Forces (SPS) have candidates.

The Bureau of the Central Council also decided to support deputy of the “Russia’s Regions” faction Vladimir Butkeev at the gubernatorial elections in Magadan Region. The member s of the Bureau noted that the cooperation of Butkeev with the regional branch of Yabloko in Magadan was long-term and

productive. The elections will take place on November 5, 2000. At present VButkeev and the present governor Tzvetkov have the biggest electoral chances.

On October 28 the 9th Congress of the Yabloko Association will be held Moscow Region: the first meeting of the newly elected Central Council is

scheduled for October 29. Both the meetings will be devoted to another stage of party reform and will work in a regime that is closed to the mass media.
