Irina Khakamada welcomes the decision of Evgeni Savostyanov to recall his candidacy at the presidential elections in favour of Grigory Yavlinsky

One of the leaders of the Union of Right-Wing Forces, Irina Khakamada, welcomed the decision of Evgeni Savostyanov to recall his candidacy at the presidential elections in favour of the Yabloko leader Grigory Yavlinsky.

In an interview on March 22, Irina Khakamada noted that Savostyanov's rating "was microscopic", but added at the same time that this presidential candidate "had provided an example of how presidential candidates representing one spectrum of political forces should behave in the vigorous fight for third place in the presidential elections."

While Irina Khakamada is certain that a democratic candidate will come third, she thinks that it is important to ensure that he obtains the maximum number of votes. Irina Khakamada expressed her regret that another democratic candidate, Konstantin Titov had, unlike Evgeni Savostyanov, refused to acknowledge this fact and had not recalled his candidacy in favour of a stronger competitor, such as Grigory Yavlinsky.

Irina Khakamada said that she was surprised by explanations made by Konstantin Titov (a discussion between all the three candidates was broadcast live on the "Vox Populi" programme on NTV channel). Irina Khakamada also thinks that the position of Konstantin Titov "facilitates the dissemination of votes in the first round, which can help the communist candidate Gennadi Zyuganov reach the second round".
