Griogry Yavlinsky at Interfax on the new Russian Cabinet

The leader of YABLOKO Grigory Yavlinsky thinks that the Russian government has not actually changed and is simply under greater control of the President.

“This was a technical decision [by the President]. All the key posts are occupied by the same people – this refers to the Economic Ministry, Finance Ministry, Defence Ministry and the Federal Security ServiceContinuity has been virtually totally preserved in the Foreign Affairs Ministry. So virtually nothing has changed,” said Yavlinsky in an interview with Interfax on Wednesday.

According to Yavlinsky, the only change is that “now the Cabinet is a totally subordinate body.”

“It has been subordinate before, but now it has been directly turned into a part of the presidential Administration following the [President’s] appointment of First Deputy Head of the Administration Dmitry Kozak as Head of the Government Apparat,” noted Yavlinsky.
