YABLOKO Intends to Take Electoral Commissions to Courts The Party continues its parallel count of the votes

By Ksenia Veretennikova

The YABLOKO intends to file a court request that the results of the parliamentary elections in December be invalidated. The party also intends to sue the electoral commissions which it believes to be responsible for distortion of the election results.

YABLOKO has performed a parallel count of the votes together with the communists. Deputy Chairman of the YABLOKO party Sergei Mitrokhin told the Vremya Novostei correspondent that by now YABLOKO had re-counted 10% of the votes and the CPRF had checked over 50%. "It is obvious already now that the results of the elections were distorted, and that YABLOKO was deprived of votes, while votes were added to United Russia’s total," said Mitrokhin. In addition, according to YABLOKO's data over 16% of the checked protocols made by the observers have discrepancies with the official data provided by the Central Electoral Commission. YABLOKO does not rule out that all the lawsuits will be conducted jointly with the CPRF.

Yesterday the Central Electoral Commission adopted at its meeting draft answers to the leaders of YABLOKO and CPRF Grigory Yavlinsky and Gennady Zyuganov who submitted the results of the alternative vote recount to the Central Electoral Commission.According to the Central Electoral Commission, there are no grounds for questioningthe election results.
