State Duma election results to be questioned at Supreme Court

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - The Yabloko Party, the Russian Communist Party and other representatives of Committee 2008, including Irina Khakamada, Sergei Ivanenko and Yevgeny Kiselyov, are preparing to demand that the Russian Supreme Court annul the results of the latest elections to the State Duma.

"Lawyers of the Independent Election Institute, the Communist Party and Yabloko drafted a lawsuit to be filed at the Russian Supreme Court, and Committee 2008 sponsored the drafting. I think we will file the lawsuit at the end of this week," Yabloko Deputy Chairman Sergei Mitrokhin told Interfax on Monday. He said the Russian Central Elections Committee would be the defendant.

"The goal of the lawsuit is to have the results of the Fourth State Duma election declared invalid as well as to cancel the Central Elections Commission protocols and resolutions on the distribution of parliament mandates," he said.
