| Anchor: Making sure that Russians don't pay
too much for municipal services, for water and for heating - that is the
aim of a public committee set up today on the initiative of the Yabloko
party. Yabloko is promising to protect citizens from the arbitrary behaviour
of the monopolies.
Grigory Yavlinsky:
The idea is that citizens should pay only for what they receive in the
form of housing and municipal services. At the moment, the price you pay
for housing and municipal services is two-and-a-half to six times higher
than the actual costs incurred in the provision of those services. We
did some work at 1,500 flats across Russia, and proved that payments for
water, for example, are between twice to six times what they should be.
It's just the same with heating.
