On March 29, 2002, the Bureau of the Federal Council of the
YABLOKO party established a commission (under Bureau) for
equal opportunities for women and men. The work of the commission
resulted in the development of the gender part of YABLOKO’s
programme and platform.
The gender branch of the YABLOKO party was formally established
on May 18, 2006 at the All-Russia Statutory Conference in
Ekaterinburg. The branch got the status of YABLOKO’s faction
at the 13th party congress (June 10-11, 2006). The Gender
Faction, like all the other factions, has the consultative
capacity in the governing bodies of the party. In February
2008 YABLOKO’s Gender Faction became a full-fledged member
of the International Network of Liberal Women in Liberal International.
In March 2009 the Gender Faction of the YABLOKO party joint
the Council for Consolidation of Women’s Movement in Russia.
The faction has 45 branches all over Russia and 600 active
members.
Head of the faction is Galina Mikhalyova.
