Women topped YABLOKO’s list of candidates for elections
to the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk region scheduled
on October 10. Such a decision was adopted by the regional
conference of the party which took place on August 7.
Number one in YABLOKO’s list is Natalya Mironova, a well-known
ecologist, member of YABLOKO’s Federal Council. Fatima Kobzhasarova,
Chair of the Bashkirian Women’s organization Fatikha, is listed
the second. Number three is Galina Zaitzeva, people’s artist
of Russia, professor of the Chaeyabinsk State Academy and
Culture and Arts, head of the Chair of Vocal. “We made it
a special point that our three top candidates will not include
the so-called “locomotives”, as well as representatives of
the federal leadership of the party,” Sergei Mitrokhin said
after participating in the conference.
The conference also nominated Oleg Mukharlamov YABLOKO’s
candidate to the post of the head of Bredinskly District of
the Chelyabinsk Region.
Answering a question from one of the delegates of the conference
whether the party should participate in elections Sergei Mitrokhin
said that “boycott of elections is inadmissible”. According
to Mitrokhin, “a boycott paralises civil initiative pushing
towards rejection of any civil activity”. Participation in
the elections, despite all the manipulations and fraud, “is
the only way to influence them, making elections honest”.
The election to the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk
Region will take place on a single election day October 10.
