Interregional conference “Women’s Movement in Russia: the
Present and Socio-Political Prospects” and the meeting of
the Council for Consolidation of Women’s Movement in Russia
will take place in Voronezh on April 9, 2010. The conference
marked the 10th anniversary of the Voronezh regional movement
Women’s Unity.
Co-organisers of the conference were the Council for Consolidation
of Women’s Movement in Russia and the Russian Academy of State
Service.
About 300 participants from Russia and Ukraine participated
in the conference. The speakers were deputies of the State
Duma Elena Mizulina and Elena Vtorygina, head of the south-east
railway Anatoly Volodko, director of the Voronezh branch of
the Russian Academy of State Service Eugeni Podvalny and other.
Co-Chiars of the Council for Consolidation of Women’s Movement
Natalya Dmitriyeva and Natalya Ivanova spoke about the tasks
of women’s movement and its influence on social policies.
According to Galina Mikhalyova, Chair of YABLOKO’s Gender
faction and Co-Chair of the Council for Consolidation of Women’s
Movement, the political tasks of women’s movement are in lobbying
of the law on the state guarantees of equal rights and opportunities
of men and women, as well as outreach campaigning and joining
the efforts with non-profit organisations and civil initiatives
protecting civil rights.
The conference adopted a resolution stressing the achievements
of women’s movement in Russia and the task of consolidation
of all the organisations of women’s movement for constructive
participation of women in modernisation of the country.
