On March 27, the Political Committee of the YABLOKO party
and the Russian Medical Association (RMA) signed a Memorandum
on cooperation in reforming the healthcare in Russia.
The Memorandum fixed the intentions of YABLOKO and the
RMA to cooperate in development of new approaches to the
healthcare reform, determining the priorities for the sector
and protection of the rights of the medical workers and
the patients.
Representatives of the RMA headed by their President Ashot
Sarkisyan gave YABLOKO’s Political Committee of their proposals
on each of the lines of cooperation.
According to RMA and YABLOKO, the reform of the healthcare
system should base on formation of a competitive environment
for medial workers, medical companies, clinics and hospitals
and real provision of the rights of the patient in choosing
a doctor, as well as a medical or insurance company.
“The new national healthcare system should balance the
socio-economic interests of the patient and professional
and economic interests of the doctor,” runs the Memorandum.
“According to the proposed concept, the reform of the healthcare
should focus on the doctor –
patient relations rather than the interests of the bureaucracy,”
Sergei Mitrokhin said. “This meets our values and principles,”
he added.
The YABLOKO party and the Russian Medical Association will
develop a detailed programme for reforming Russia’s healthcare.
