The
Territorial Electoral Commission refused to register YABLOKO
at the election in the Klin district, Moscow Region. The election
will take place on October 11. The decision on non-registration
of YABLOKO’s list was adopted on the night August 26. It should
be noted that the decision refers to all YABLOKO lists for
all the cities and settlements of the Klin district.
The Territorial Electoral Commission referred in its decision
to YABLOKO’s alleged violation of the Moscow Region law “On
Municipal elections in the Moscow Region”, in particular,
errors in YABLOKO’s list of candidates submitted to the commission.
The Moscow Region branch of YABLOKO considers such decision
of the Commission biased and insists on its abrogation. YABLOKO
is preparing a claim to the Moscow Region Electoral Commission
indicating an unfair decision of the subordinate commission.
On the night when the Territorial Electoral Commission refused
to register YABLOKO in the race someone broke windows in the
office of the Klin YABLOKO situated in the centre of the city.
YABLOKO’s staff are certain that this case of vandalism is
politically motivated.
It is not the first case when administration of the Klin district
used uncivilized methods to oppose YABLOKO. Thus, on August
21 the security of the Territorial Electoral Commission simply
did not let Yuri Samsonov topping YABLOKO’s list to enter
the building so that to submit the list of YABLOKO’s candidates
to the commission. Party activists conducted a number of pickets
by the local administration buildings demanding fair and honest
election in Klin.
