Head and deputy head of the Morskoi municipal district were elected on June 2, three months after the local elections. Irina Matyash, member of the United Russia party, was elected head of the municipal district and Olga Galkina, member of the Bureau of St.Petersburg YABLOKO and head of the local (district) YABLOKO branch was elected deputy head.

The issue of electing heads of the municipal district had to be put into the agenda of the council so that to minimize pressure on some deputies from head of Administration of Vasileostrovsky Area Alexander Isayev.

The decision of Vasileostrovsky District Court of St.Petersburg cancelling the results of the voting at electoral station No 127 of the Morskoi District came into force on June 2. Now the electoral commission has to meet once again and adopt a new decision on the results of the election, granting deputy’s mandate to member of the YABLOKO Bureau Boris Vishnevsky instead of United Russia’s Anton Chumachenko.

Hearings on the lawsuit of Tatyana Sharagina, member of the Regional Council of St.Petersburg YABLOKO and coordinator of the For the Protection of Vassiliyevsky Island Movement on cancelling the results of the voting at electoral station No 136 of the Morskoi District will continue in July.
