Deputy Head of the State Duma Irina Khakamada, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Education and Science Alexander Shishlov, Minister of Education of the RF Vladimir Fillipov, representatives of the Federation Council of the RF, Russian Education Academy, Russia's Rectors' Union, Central Committee of the Trade Union of Education Workers, etc, participated in the hearings.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Education and Science Alexander Shishlov (the YABLOKO faction), the uniform state examination is one of the main instruments for establishing an efficient and objective system of control over the quality of education: without this tool it is impossible to monitor education efficiently. At the same time, Shishlov believes that when testing the applicants to the leading universities it was possible to complement the uniform state exam with other forms of assessment of the knowledge of the applicant, for example, the results of school Olympiads. The decision to switch to a uniform state exam all over Russia should be taken at the level of federal law.

Based on the results of the hearings the Committee will submit its recommendations to the Ministry of Education of the RF and will include the proposals to establish a public control system over conducting the uniform state exam, technologies for combining the uniform state exam with other forms of knowledge assessment, the introduction of corresponding changes to existinglaws.

Our goal is to create such a system of attestation and assessment of the quality of knowledge which would enjoy public trust, noted Shishlov.
