On November 29-30, Chairman of the Russian Democratic Party YABLOKO Grigory Yavlinsky will participate in an international conference "The Big Europe", Vilnius, Lithuania, devoted to contemporary security problems in Europe.

President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, President of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski, President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, Vice-President of Euro Convent Juliano Amato, Governor of Kaliningrad Region Vladimir Yegorov, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the RF Dmitri Rogozin and others will participate in the conference.

In his speech on November 30, 2002, Yavlinsky will touch on the relations between Russia, Europe and the USA dictating the requirements related to the "creation of a new joint security agenda for Russia and Europe."

According to Yavlinsky, one of the key moments today concerns the creation of the Russian-European anti-missile defence system for the theatre of military actions (RE AMD or AMD TMA).

Yavlinsky will also speak about the problems of the Treaty on Limitation of Conventional Arms and Armed Forces in Europe. Yavlinsky will stress the Russian view that new NATO members should join this treaty, and the total capacity of the conventional arms of NATO in Europe should not be increased until new members join NATO.

Recognising the present resolution for the Kaliningrad problem as a compromise, Yavlinsky will insist on the development of a definite plan for implementing visa-free links between the Russian Federation and the European countries as a basic solution for the problem.

A joint press conference of the President of Lithuania and the leader of YABLOKO devoted to the problems of Kaliningrad Region and expansion of the European Union and NATO will be conducted on the same day.
