A protest action against the import and storage of nuclear waste in Russia took place in Barnaul. The event was organised by the regional branch of Yabloko, the Union of Right-Wing Forces, the Congress of Intelligentsia of Altai Territory and the "Altai - 21st Century" Public Foundation.

The participants in the picket expressed their protest against the approval by the State Duma at its third reading of the amendments to the draft law allowing for the import, treatment and preservation of nuclear waste in Russia. They also forwarded an address to the deputies of the State Duma and President of Russia, which noted that the import of nuclear waste into the country "may have catastrophic and irreversible consequences for Russia."
