The criminal proceedings in St. Petersburg, involving Deputy Head of the Yabloko faction in the State Duma, Igor Artemyev, have been stopped

Criminal proceedings where Deputy Head of the Yabloko faction in the State Duma Igor Artemyev was a witness, have been halted in St. Petersburg due to the absence of a corpus delicti.

The barrister of Artemyev released this information on December 8, 2000. He referred to the Investigator for Particularly Serious Crimes of the Public Prosecutor's Office of St.Petersburg Anatoli Skukovsky.

The barrister said that the criminal case, which had mentioned the Finance Minister of the RF Alexei Kudrin as well as Artemyev, had referred to the illegal issue of housing credits by the Finance Committee of St. Petersburg Administration.

The Committee was headed by Kudrin from 1993 to 1996 and from 1996 to 1999 by Artemyev.

The cases mentioning Kudrin was mentioned have been closed for now. Artemyev also said that he “had never doubted that justice would triumph, and that the Public Prosecutor of St. Petersburg would be able to sort things out”.
