Born on January 17, 1951, Russian. Higher education:
graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International
Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
USSR, specialist in international relations.
1976-1994 - researcher, senior researcher, leading
specialist, sector head, department head of the Institute
of the World Economy and International Relations of
the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Moscow. Doctor
of history.
1993-1995 - Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal
Assembly of the Russian Federation of the first convocation.
In 1995 elected to the State Duma of the second convocation
from the federal electoral district Yabloko (No 7
in the list). Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal
Assembly of the Russian Federation, member of the
Defence Committee of the State Duma. Chairman of the
Subcommittee for International Security and Arms Limitations.
On December 19, 1999 elected Deputy of the State
Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
of the third convocation on the federal list. Deputy
Chairman of the Defence Committee of the State Duma.
Heads Commission for Defence, Security and Ratification
of International Treaties. Member of the Council of
the Yabloko faction.
